About 80% of clutter is caused by disorganization. When there isn’t a specific place to put things, they tend to pile up. When company comes, all those things get thrown into a spare room or into a closet. And sometimes they never come out again. Rather the pattern keeps repeating: Piles of stuff accumulate, and then get thrown into the spare room or closet, until they overflow throughout the whole house if the pattern isn’t changed. It’s important to create systems that lead to habits that become a daily routine, in order to stay on top of the piles of paper, and clutter.
